Michael J. Cohen is a civil trial attorney who focuses his practice in the areas of healthcare law, securities litigation, broker misconduct, construction disputes, commercial and corporate litigation, real estate, employment, administrative issues personal injuries, wrongful death, products liability, medical malpractice, and all other matters requiring the intervention of the court system.
Mr. Cohen served as the managing member of Goldstein & Cohen, P.A. until founding Cohen & Greenberg, LLC. in January 2004, where he served as a managing member of the firm. In January 2012, Mr. Cohen founded the Cohen Legal Group. He is now a member of Vernon Litigation Group, which is dedicated to assisting individuals, businesses and healthcare providers in any disputes or other legal matters.
A seasoned litigator, Mr. Cohen has successfully litigated, arbitrated and tried cases in the State and Federal Courts throughout the State of Florida as well as in front of arbitration panels associated with the American Arbitration Association and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA formerly known as National Association of Securities Dealers). Mr. Cohen is also a skilled negotiator, who has been particularly successful in resolving disputes without costly and time-consuming litigation.
Mr. Cohen graduated from the University of Florida in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in finance and a minor in economics. He spent two years as a financial consultant with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith before attending law school at the University of Miami. He began practicing law upon graduating in 1998. Mr. Cohen has been a member of the Florida Bar since September 1998 and is presently a member of the Florida Bar, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers and the Dade County and American Bar Associations. He is also active in his community, volunteering as a youth football, basketball, and baseball coach with the YMCA, a soccer coach with AYSO, and serves as a board member of Temple B’Nai Aviv and the Weston Bar Association.
